Declaration of Continuation

"I Can't Go On; I'll Go ON"

An episode of the Chouannerie.

We have been asleep for nearly a month. I've watched our views nearly hit rock bottom. Why? Because I had no hope. I've been standing by Pope Francis since the beginning of his Pontificate. But recent events made that... difficult. I won't act like that it wasn't hard from the start. I won't act like I even have a fond personal opinion of His Holiness, because I won't lie. To explain my inactivity simply, it's that I have always believed that any "Counter-Revolution" in opposition to Rome would be profoundly foolish. It goes completely against the natural order of things in Christendom. But then the logical paradox emerged: how does one fight for a Church that does not wish to defend that which you are fighting for? How do you fight against an enemy whom your liege is welcoming with open arms? How do you follow a religion that mandates fidelity to an Ecclesiastical Institution that doesn't instruct its followers in that religion? It's an impossible task; there is nothing the layman can do concerning the prelacy. No saint, no doctrine, no article of canon law gives recourse of comfort in the situation we seem to find ourselves in, much less guidance as to how to fix the situation.

It is, quite simply, a hopeless situation; by all accounts, Rome has fallen, and there's not a licit thing we can do about it. There's not even a canon law procedure for what to do if a Pope became irrevocably insane, much less for one if he indeed is a heretic - which I don't think he is; I believe His Holiness to be a well-meaning and misguided elder if anything in that regard - so what makes us believe there would be something for a situation where a Pope seemingly wants to be Pope of everyone but Catholics? I don't need to relate like a list of charges the things His Holiness have done that are questionable and possibly even damning - we all know them.

Warhammer 40k A Death Korps of Krieg Commissar carrying out the summary execution of a Heretic priest of the Ecclesiarchy.

Perhaps the silver lining is that there are clearly a host of lay Catholics with a strong love for tradition, doctrine, dogma, and history that outstrips almost anyone in the clergy. No matter how heretical they might be they cannot change the Faith. No matter how much they try to erase it, degrade it, make us feel ashamed for it, twist it, or deceive us about how it really was, history is a collection of facts and you cannot destroy truth. The only way Defenders of Truth lose is by choosing not to fight, because no lie is so great it can bury the Truth.

So I confess that, as satisfying as the above picture might seem, I have no real solution for fixing the crisis in the clergy, and I certainly don't advocate unlawful violence upon their persons (but let's be honest, we've more often than once wanted to throw our missals at our priests in the middle of Mass). But as I've said, we know what Catholicism is, and nobody can take that from us. They cannot change the Faith, even if their response to hating it is to try and bury it.

But there is something we can fight; there is something we must fight. Anyone who's familiar with think-tanks like our own, and groups that purport to be "Traditionalists" or what have you might have noticed a frightening trend. "Traditional" Catholicism is being robbed and usurped by secular ideologies for their usage. Fascism, Socialism, National Socialism (Nazism), Antisemitism, Racism, Xenophobia, Falangism, Francoism, Nationalism, have all arisen to fight for control in the Catholic Church. They hoist our colors, shout our war-cries, wear our uniforms, and usurp our castles in the name of protecting Christendom; all the while they shame it with countless atrocities that spurn every chivalrous principle upon which it was built. Their claims to be Christendom's sons could not be further from the truth; you see, ladies and gentlemen, there is a new front in the Culture Wars: the War for the Catholic Church.

Ante Pavelic
These Far-Right Secular Political Ideologies have arisen in response to Left-Wing Secular Political Ideologies attempting to gain control in the Church. Arguably, the "Left" has been successful in their campaign for the last 50 years or so. But in the least, what they can do when given full control has not been fully seen. But what these Crypto-Fascists can and will do is all too well known.

Benito Mussolini
For centuries the Church has stood alone as a bastion of civilization: she has her own philosophy, her own theology, her own literature, her own ideas and principles. But with the sun setting on Christendom after the 18th century secular political ideologies replaced her. However, conscious over the power Rome holds over the hearts and minds of the world, these Usurpers have restlessly fought for control over her. They have jealously fought for the blessing of the Pontifex Maximus. They have scrambled to connect themselves to the Kings of Christendom even as they hold their power in their absence, wearing their insignias and crowns even as their noble corpses are bleeding at their feet, struck down by their very hands. They rule in their names even as they slander their memory by their decrees and tyranny. They claim to be champions of the Catholic Church, but in private they slander it or defy it.

If Dollfuss and the Vaterland loved the Habsburgs so much, why didn't they put them back in charge of Austria?
At best, the charlatans I have described above are Catholics with intentions of restoring Christendom who paradoxically do it in such a way that the lords they seek to emulate would put their heads on spikes. At worst, these False Prophets are not even Catholic or simply claim to be for political brownie-points with select demographics. Both in general usurp rightful authority and will fight to the death for an idea which they themselves do not even believe at worst or at best do not fully understand. But the result is always the same: Catholicism suffers for their actions. In some of these countries, the Church is forever associated with their regimes and the ties cannot be severed without great effort in the minds of the people, and for the enemies of the Church in these countries it gives them all the tools they need to deny influence, rights, or even basic respect to Catholics in these countries.

I wanted the NSIR to fall back behind fortifications and wait for the situation in the Church to better itself. We have no power over the hierarchy, and I will not take the Imperium in a direction that leads to war against the Church. I will not follow or give clemency to these who have willingly and unashamedly made their face like flint against the Supreme Roman Pontiff and legitimate ecclesiastical authority. But how can the Imperium survive, when the Second Head of the Imperial Phoenix, Rome Itself, it would seem could not welcome Christendom back into the world? In such a situation, what is left to do but stand back and wait?

But the usurpers who killed Catholicism in Europe when it was on its sickbed in the 20th century have arisen once again. Rome was forced to cower before them in fear as it would have had it been dragged naked before any Caliph, Sultain, Chieftain, or Protestant Prince. Dear friends, I can offer no succor save Faith - and such a succor is a bitter pill to swallow - in the face of the situation in the ecclesiastical workings of the Church today.

Regardless of the Hierarchy being what it is, we cannot simply withdraw. Because if we do, those who fill the void will only thrust Catholicism deeper down this rabbit hole. Why do you think the mainstream Church shrinks from "conservatism," "tradition," "Monarchism," or what have you? The Crusades? The militant history of our Faith? Because the vast majority of the world associates that with the Usurpers I have aforementioned. What do you think one more outbreak of such an infection will do? It will be our undoing. This cannot be allowed.

We must fight these usurpers: we must set ourselves apart from them. For now they only give Rome the more incentive to go the way She is going. We must root out these madmen, clinging to failed ideologies that did not even outlive their founders and brought utter ruin upon their nations. They are as much the enemy as Liberals; secular conservatism we have no need for. The Church and Her Teaching, Tradition, and History provides all that we need.

There is a war for the Church, and we cannot afford to lose it. That is why I have returned. That is why activity will resume across all our pages. The Catholic Clergy are in an abysmal state, and there is absolutely nothing I or any other layman can do about it - it is above us. There are now two factions fighting for the future of the Church, and neither of whom truly have Christendom in mind. They have their own agendas. This we cannot allow; the Church cannot be overtaken in her present state of weakness. So we shall go forth, whether Rome likes us or not, and whether the Clergy like us or not. We will hear their judgment after our work is done, not before.

Will this work? I cannot say. But it must be done. This is a war so Just I would rather fight it and have it said we fought and failed than that we never fought at all. This is a good hill to die on, and I would be honored to have you all die beside me. We can do nothing for the Church Spiritual as it stands - it is out of our hands. But the Church Temporal? She can still be fought for. She can still be won. This has given me hope. So come with me, my friends; let us unto the breach one more, and fill it with the dead of the foemen.

  1. To answer your question under the picture of Chancellor Dollfuss, 'Because the Allies, led by the US, made it clear that a Restoration would be a casus belli!' Rump Austria would have bee destroyed in days. Those same Allies insisted that the Red Anti-Hapsburg Laws be included in the State Treaty officially ending WW II.

    1. I'd rather they have gone out gloriously than just go down in history as another footnote in the list of Fascist governments in Germania.
